On July 10, Chinese customs authorities suspended shrimp imports from three Ecuadorian producers -- Industrial Pesquera Santa Priscila SA, Empacreci SA and Empacadora Del Pacifico Sociedad Anonima Edpacif -- after allegedly detecting traces of COVID-19 on some recent shipments.

The positive results were picked up on July 3 from cargoes at Dalian port in Liaoning province and Xiamen port in Fujian province, reported Reuters.

The traces were detected on the very outer packaging housing the products in question and there is nothing linking the virus to the actual shrimp itself.
