Ecuadorian authorities are amplifying the country's already stringent control measures on shrimp production after China suspended imports from three producers last week over traces of COVID-19.

Additionally, several bodies are joining forces to establish a technical supervisory committee (CTS) led by the Ministry of Production, Commerce Investment and Fisheries, the Ministry of Health, Secretariat of Quality and Safety and the Ecuadorian National Chamber of Aquaculture (CNA).

The newly established committee will strengthen procedures already in place to curb the spread of COVID-19 among aquaculture and seafood workers, as well as maintain export quality.
