Chilean salmon producers are sweating over the outcome of intensive testing of their products after the discovery on Friday of COVID-19 on the chopping board of a seller of imported salmon at Beijing's main wholesale seafood market.

While salmon imports into Beijing have been halted, testing is being carried out on salmon in ports across China.

The development is already affecting demand, with retailers having been quick to remove salmon from their shelves, while authorities have been warning the public off salmon, New World Currents Executive Director Eduardo Goycoolea told IntraFish.
