Private equity firm Broodstock Capital announced a controlling stake in seafood software firm Maritech earlier this month.

It marked the firm's second acquisition in 2017; in April Broodstock acquired Danish recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) equipment supplier Billund Aquaculture, in a move that signaled the group’s ambitions in the services side of the seafood sector.

When Broodstock was first formed, partner Kjetil Haga told me it was with a very clear mission: to find niche companies poised to benefit from aquaculture’s growth – salmon farming in particular.
