Norwegian group, Nordic Aquafarms (NAF) said Tuesday it will construct a 33,000-metric ton land-based salmon farm in Belfast, Maine. NAF currently has land-based operations in Denmark and Norway. Among its collaborators is Maine & Co, a private, non-profit corporation looking to promote employment and company growth in Maine.
Maine & Co President and CEO Peter DelGreco said NAF's interest in this land-based project started nine to 12 months ago when the company was considering potential locations around the world.
