The Scottish Environmental Protection Agengy (SEPA) is taking on new powers to regulate chemical treatment residues from wellboats, under a streamlining of regulations governing fish farms.
The regulatory change makes it easier to ensure combined discharges from fish farms and wellboats meet environmental standards, the agency said.
SEPA’s role in the regulation of aquaculture is to protect the marine environment by ensuring the aquaculture industry meets environmental standards.
