US salmon market prices are forecast to hover above or around the $5 (€4.11) per pound mark in 2021, underpinned by an expected double-digit reduction in production in Chile and increased foodsector demand as the economy emerges from the coronavirus crisis.
Market sources have started the year more upbeat amid an expection prices will return to levels last seen in 2018 and 2019.
This comes after a period that saw them dip to the low $3 (€2.47) per pound range during 2020 when the bottom fell out of the foodservice market with consumers stuck at home under lockdown restrictions.
