Washington state commissioner who banned netpens visits Canada land-based salmon farming partner, touts potential for 'epic change'

Washington State Commissioner of Public Lands Hilary Franz touted her visit to Canada land-based salmon producer Sustainable Blue earlier this month, a further sign of her interest in having the company establish land-based salmon farming in the state.

After its controversial decision last November to ban all ocean netpen salmon farming in state waters, Washington's Department of Natural Resources (DNR) signed a letter of intent with Sustainable Blue earlier this year to explore the development of land-based aquaculture in the state.
