Norwegian salmon farmer Salaks revealed footage of the landslide that hit its facility on June 8, but it is still waiting for geologists' analysis of the damage, an executive with the company told IntraFish.
"We only know a little about which equipment got destroyed in the facility because we can't enter the building until the geologists complete their report on the site," said CEO Odd Bekkeli.
What it does know is that the evaporator unit and silage facility have been destroyed as a result of the landslide and insurance companies are assessing damages.
Two challenges, one month
Prior to the landslide, Salaks was also one of nine companies hit by a deadly algal bloom in May.
"We had just summed up the repercussions of the algae situation and then this happened," Bekkeli said. "We have jumped from one challenge to another."
