After a long journey, which started in China on June 17, Norwegian firm SalMar saw its offshore farming facility arrive in Norway this week, reports Hitra-Frøya.

The Hua Hai Long, which was built by the China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (CSIC) in Qingdao, will be positioned immediately after its arrival at its new home in Frøya.

Known as Ocean Farm 1, it will be positioned in Frohavet, off the coast of central Norway.

SalMar CEO Trond Williksen and other officials will await the vessel's arrival in Nordhammervika.

Williksen told Hitra-Frøya the focus now is on the work that lies ahead.

The vessel will first be used in a operational pilot phase.
