The fisheries and aquaculture arm of the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Agency (NOAA) has identified 19 sites in areas in the Gulf of Mexico and in Southern California that may be suitable for offshore aquaculture.
On Tuesday, NOAA released a more than 500-page report detailing how it chose those specific sites as "Aquaculture Opportunity Areas," which were part of former President Donald Trump's executive order promoting American seafood competitiveness and economic growth.
