In the middle of the American prairie lies a land-based salmon farming company that produces an estimated 700 metric tons of salmon each year.

Wisconsin-based Superior Fresh, a recirculating aquaculture system (RAS) aquaponic production salmon farming company also produces vegetables. The wastewater from the salmon facility fertilizes its 3,000 metric tons of annual vegetable production.

Management growth plans go beyond the small town of Northfield, Wisconsin, where it is located.

"We would like to increase today's production by 10 times," Superior Fresh Managing Director Brandon Gottsacker told IntraFish.
