THE USA’S largest sit-down restaurant group, Darden Restaurant Inc, is looking at sourcing large black tiger shrimp from Brunei Darussalam.

Bill Herzig, senior vice president, purchasing and supply chain innovation at Darden Restaurants, visited Brunei’s Acting Minister of Industry and Primary Resources, Dato Paduka Awg Haji Hamdillah bin Haji Abd Wahab, at his office in Berakas.

During the meeting, discussions were held regarding the shrimp project and the possibilities of pursuing collaborative research and development activities in aquaculture.

In 2007, Brunei’s Department of Fisheries launched a three-year renewable project with Integrated Aquaculture International to develop advanced technology to produce large black tiger shrimp.
