A new documentary from US outdoor clothing giant Patagonia is likely to shine new, highly negative attention on Chile's salmon farming sector, and spark fresh round of criticism from the NGO community and aquaculture opponents.

IntraFish obtained a leaked copy of the film, "Estado Salmonero," which is not slated for official online release until June 25.

The documentary, which screened in select cities in Chile this week, shows incendiary images of salmon mortalities during the algal bloom of 2016, and disturbing images of pristine beaches stained with what appears to be toxic foam, dead crabs and other species.
