The University of Stirling will develop improved vaccines against bacterial diseases in Vietnamese catfish, reports EurekAlert.

The project will invest £680,000 (€762,851/$855,256) to find alternatives to the use of antibiotics in tackling infections.

Other than the university, the project involves commercial partner Aqualife, a local vaccine administration company.

The project is funded by Canada's International Development Research Centre and the UK Department of Health and Social Care.
