Scottish trout farmer Kames Fish Farming and aquaculture genetics company Xelect are forming a new strategic partnership to develop the first selective breeding program for sea trout in the UK.

The new breeding program is designed to boost Kames's production of faster-growing fish with high survival rates that thrive in the seawater environment.

Kames is a family-run farm and has been growing steelhead trout in the remote waters off the west coast of Scotland for the past 50 years.
