Turkish trout producer Bagci Balik, located in Koycegiz-Mugla, Turkey, is actively looking into other species and seeking partnerships outside Turkish borders, Hassan Yavuz Papila, general manager at Bagci told IntraFish.

In a recent visit to the farm, owned by the Papila Group, Papila said the business is not sustainable at current prices, especially considering custom duties for the species into the European Union.

“At the moment, importers are demanding big fish, of over 1.2 kilograms to avoid an 8 percent duty on imports,” Papila said.
