Political uncertainty aside, Turkey’s seabream and seabass industry is stable and is expected to remain that way for the time-being before it reawakens, officials at companies in Izmir, the country’s hub for seafood production, told IntraFish.
Turkish firms have a large share in European markets in both fresh and frozen seafood, despite regulatory challenges and disadvantages against other big producers within the bloc, such as Greece.
“The relationship with our customers is the most important factor behind our strong presence in Europe,” Isil Sen, export representative at producer More Aquaculture, told IntraFish.
