The sea bass and sea bream sector is currently experiencing a period of high supply and low prices as it reaches the bottom of yet another ‘boom-and-bust’ cycle, said Paul Steinar Valle, project and development manager responsible for sea bass/sea bream market surveillance at Kontali Analyse.

Although demand is steadily increasing, on a long-term basis -- at about 5-6 percent annually for both species -- supplies are “swinging around this demand and sometimes well above as it is now – causing low prices,” Valle told IntraFish.
