Norway's Fisheries and Oceans Minister Bjornar Skjaeran said he is unsurprised that salmon farming companies are announcing they will pause or pull out of investments in the country following the government's new 40 percent tax proposal.

Since the announcement of the so-called "ground rent" or natural resource tax last week, several major companies, including Mowi, Cermaq, Grieg Seafood, Leroy Seafood, Salmar and more have announced they will pause, halt or cancel investments in Norway in a coordinated show of the potential impact on coastal communities.
