Belgium-based fish farming group Omegabaars and its sustainability ethos is starting to gain traction across several new markets.

The company, which was established in 2015, is currently selling jade perch in Belgium, France and the Netherlands, and marketing it on its almost totally self-contained circular production.

The founder of the company, Stijn Van Hoestenberghe, chose the native Australian jade perch because it is receptive to a totally vegetarian feed, is rich in omega-3s, and functions well in a recirculation aquaculture system (RAS).
