Scotland’s salmon farmers incurred losses of at least £11 million (€12.6 million/$15.3 million) as a direct result of the changes brought about by Brexit, the Scottish Salmon Producers Organisation (SSPO) revealed on Friday.

The sector experienced an immediate loss of sales to the tune of 1,500 metric tons of product.

The losses were a direct result of the extra paperwork, the new layers of bureaucracy, the delays and the confusion caused by the end of the Brexit transition phase, said the SSPO.
