Tucked away in the industrial area of the small German town of Grevesmühlen, in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, only around 12 kilometres south of the coast of the Baltic Sea, Green Aqua Farming recently stocked its first commercial recirculation plant for shrimp. After 10 months of construction and a €1.7 million investment, the company was finally on its way towards kicking off a new shrimp farming movement in Germany and other central European countries.

On September 9, Till Backhaus, the German Minister for Agriculture, Environment and Consumer Protection, officially inaugurated the 1,300 square metre-facility, a first for the region.
