The EU Commission has approved Mowi as the buyer of SalMar's shares in Icelandic salmon farmer Arctic Fish and the parties can therefore proceed with closing the transaction.

Mowi, the world's largest salmon farmer, said in October it reached an agreement to acquire 51.28 percent of the shares in Arctic Fish from Norwegian salmon giant SalMar as part of a deal clearing the way for the latter's merger with NTS.

In connection with the approval of the SalMar/NTS deal, SalMar agreed to sell the shares in Arctic Fish, where NRS held more than 51 percent of the shares, to Mowi.
