Australian salmon producer Tassal failed to comply with 19 Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) certification requirements at two sites in Macquarie Harbour, Tasmania, according to an audit report, wrote ABC News. It has three months to address these issues or risk losing the ASC label.
"This is simply the next step in the process of working towards our certification," said Tassal, according to the news site. "Tassal has very good compliance across all its other sites and an adaptive management system in place to support a strong process of continuous improvement.
However others feel Tassal is playing down the report results.
