Vegafish, a land-based biofloc system shrimp firm based in Sweden, is on the look out for new investors after emerging from bankruptcy in February last year.

The company, previously backed by Findus Nordic, ran into production issues due to a flawed tank design and regulatory issues. After its insurance company refused to pay for the damage, the owners decided to not invest anymore, Matilda Olstorpe, CEO at Vegafish, told IntraFish.

"It was not a happy time," she said.

Once the former Vegafish was declared bankrupt, she founded a new company, bought the brand and company name and started with a small pilot facility on the west coast of Sweden.
