Peruvian anchovy vessels have hauled their nets aboard for the final time in the first season in key north-central waters, IntraFish understands.

With 98.1 percent or 2.46 million metric tons of the 2.5 million-metric-to quota harvested, the outstanding balance is made up of quota from vessels no longer operating.

In a Thursday update an official Peru's National Fisheries Society (SNP) told IntraFish the season will officially end at 00:00 hrs on Aug 13.

As the season end approached, a halt was called to harvesting after rough seas prevented them from landing less than 100,000 metric tons of the remaining quota before boats returned to fishing ground to complete their individual quotas.
