Land-based flatfish farmer Stolt Sea Farm (SSF) is planning to significantly increase its production of turbot and sole after receiving official government approval to expand its hatchery in Cervo, Spain.

The upgraded facility – already the world’s largest – will have an annual capacity of approximately 6 million turbot juveniles and 10 million sole juveniles. This will increase SSF's overall annual production capacity to 8,500 metric tons of turbot and more than 3,000 metric tons of sole.

In addition, the construction project and operation of the new facility will create additional jobs for the local Cervo community.
