The South Australia state government has increased the maximum term of an aquaculture production lease from 20 to 30 years, one of several changes to the official Aquaculture Act, reports the Port Lincoln Times.

During the last state election, the Australian state government committed to strengthening the aquaculture industry, and this extension will make leases more attractive to financial institutions, said Primary Industries and Regional Development Minister Tim Whetstone.

The changes were passed on Sept. 25.
