Feed producing giant Skretting signed a deal with Netherlands-based insect meal producer Protix to produce as many as 5.5 million salmon servings from fish fed with insect meal.
Protix inaugurated a new 14,000-square-meter insect production facility in Bergen Op Zoom on June 11, which houses insects that convert vegetable residual flows into sustainable protein.
“We are very proud to work with Protix to unlock this new protein source into the aquaculture feed industry to help bridge the future protein gap,” Skretting Project Procurement Manager Jenna Bowyer said.
