Aquaconnect secured $8 million (€7.3 million) in venture debt funding from Trifecta Capital in March.

The fresh round of capital will be used to expand the company's presence across India by growing its network of partners, enabling it to better provide feed and equipment to India's fish and shrimp farmers, according to a post on LinkedIn from Aquaconnect CEO and co-founder Rajamanohar Somasundaram.

Aquaconnect was established in 2019 with $1 million (€910,000) in seed funding from startup accelerators Omnivore and Hatch with the aim of transforming India's $7.1 billion (€7.4 billion) shrimp farming sector.

To do this, the company started giving free on-the-spot access to production expertise as well as data collection and other planning tools considered basic necessities of day-to-day business.

"The whole industry is not as efficient as it should be," Somasundaram told IntraFish at the time. "Technology has not penetrated it the way it should have done."
