Chile's National Service of Fisheries and Aquaculture (Sernapesca) asked the Chilean Environmental Superintendency for a 30-day suspension of farming at one of Nova Austral's sites following irregularities found during its investigation.

The authority -- which filed three lawsuits against the company for misreporting mortalities -- said it also found indications that Nova Austral could have altered data on the seabed conditions of one of its sites, and asked for a 30-day suspension of site in question.

In addition, it said that the suits filed against the company could result in up to a four-year suspension of farming activity at the sites involved in the mortality misreporting investigation.
