Norwegian salmon producer Masoval Fiskeoppdrett plans to invest around NOK 500 million (€51.7 million/$58.2 million) in four Aqua Semi floating aquaculture platforms.

This comes after the Directorate of Fisheries awarded the company four of five requested development permits for a site in the Froyfjord between the islands of Hitra and Frøya in central Norway.

The Aqua Semi design is based on the same principle as semi-submersible drilling platforms with a closed roof construction. It will be built in collaboration with Vard, Norway's largest shipbuilder.
