Last week's acquisition of Greek sea bass and sea bream producers Selonda and Nireus by private equity investment funds Amerra Capital and Mubadala Investment Company will end an era of "standstill" for the country's aquaculture producers.

That's according to Paul Stainar Valle, project and development manager at Kontali and responsible for sea bass and sea bream related activity, who said the responsibility to move the sector forward is finally in the hands of professional investors.

"Amerra knows the market and the challenges very well and has the muscle to support the necessary changes and investments," he told IntraFish, adding Abu Dhabi-based Mubadala is also seemingly seeing an upside in such an investment.
