The Monterey Bay Seafood Watch program is standing by its "Good Alternative" rating for Nova Austral's Sixty South brand, antibiotic-free salmon, Ryan Bigelow, the group's senior program manager, told IntraFish on Friday.

"Seafood Watch will maintain the current recommendation for Nova Austral until the investigation is concluded," he said. "At that point, we will consider any new information regarding elevated mortalities and data falsification for the assessment."

On Thursday, Chile’s National Service of Fisheries and Aquaculture (Sernapesca) temporarily suspended Nova Austral’s antibiotic-free certification in light of an investigation opened by Sernapesca into the company’s alleged misreporting of mortalities.
