The Scottish salmon industry is welcoming moves by Scotland's government to make changes to production license agreements and overhaul rules governing the industry that were part of an independent review of the sector released in February.

As part of the changes, Rural Affairs Secretary Mairi Gougeon announced the formation of a task force to streamline the aquaculture regulatory system.

This includes making a change to the marine license validity period for finfish and shellfish farms from six to 25 years.
