Organic salmon still has a place in the market despite challenging conditions and a decrease in volume, Organic Sea Harvest CEO Alex MacInnes told IntraFish.

"We know that there is a stability there, and there’s certainly headroom," the exec said.

The company is working on bringing two of its sites located in Invertote and Culnacnoc in Scotland to an operational level, with two more pending planning permission from the government.

MacInnes, who has been in the business of sourcing certified organic fish for over a decade, said that farming is the next logical step because lower production volumes of organic fish have been making the products harder to find.
