The Scottish Salmon Company (SSC) has released a veterinary report that addresses the juvenile sea lice infestation that plagued its Loch Roag site on the west coast of Lewis last July.

The sea lice numbers spiked over the course of a week due to “unusually high sea temperatures and lack of rainfall at that time,” SSC said.

Fish mortality level peaked at 2.56 percent during the week, and fell to 1.46 percent by the following week.

The reporting level for mortality is 1 percent for fish over 750 grams.
