A group of four prominent fisheries scientists wrote an open letter to members of the Washington state Senate and House, expressing "alarm" over plans to eliminate salmon aquaculture.

They said the move comes without “understanding the ramifications of such an action or reviewing the overwhelming body of peer-reviewed science that exists" and urge members of the House to take peer-reviewed science into consideration before voting on House Bill 2957, which “would essentially halt Atlantic salmon aquaculture in this state forever.”
