Scientists from the Central Institute of Brackishwater Aquaculture are investigating the effect of whitespot syndrome virus on the mortality rate of shrimp in the Krishna district of Andhra Pradesh after farmers reported unfavorable soil conditions, reported The Hindu.

Soil testing continues at the CIBA-Chennai laboratories, but the scientists have already shared findings with the farmers. They also recommended a crop holiday and a micro-level focus on water parameters.
