Scanship signed a contract Wednesday with Billund Aquakulturservice for delivery of a sludge handling system to Miami-based Atlantic Sapphire.

The land-based salmon farm could become the world's largest with an annual production capacity of 90,000 metric tons when completed.

The facility in Homestead, Miami, will be built in several steps, and this Scanship contract includes supplying its "environmental protection and circular economy" technology for the first step.

"With this milestone contract, we are now in all three segments of a growing aquaculture market for smolt, sea-based closed cage and land-based farms," said Henrik Badin, CEO of Scanship.
