Salmon trade war moves step closer as UK unveils plans to ditch parts of Northern Ireland protocol

Scottish salmon will likely be a major target for any potential EU retaliatory tariffs as officials in London and Brussels continue to dispute how the Northern Ireland protocol portion of the EU-UK trade and cooperation agreement (TCA) should work.

Tuesday's announcement by UK foreign secretary Liz Truss may set the wheels in motion for an EU-UK trade war, including tariffs on politically sensitive Scottish salmon.
