Norwegian salmon and feed giants Marine Harvest, Skretting and Europharma are investigating reports that three Brazilian soy suppliers are linked to slave labor employment, violent land conflicts and illegal deforestation.

Brazilian soy companies Caramuru, Selecta and Imcopa are also involved in the use of illegal pesticides, soy cultivated in indigenous territories and on lands given to landless people, Norway's Dagbladet said, citing a report by the Rainforest Foundation and Future in Our Hands.

Soy in the form of soy protein concentrate (SPC) is an important source of protein and a key ingredient in feed used to produce Norwegian salmon.
