Russia’s federal fishery agency Rosrybolovstvo just auctioned off nine fish farming areas in the Sea of Japan, spanning an area of more than 900 hectares, another sign of the country's ambitions in the aquaculture sector.

The overall initial price target for the zones was set at a value of RUB 8.6 million (€112,900/$128,600), however, this was pushed to RUB 27.2 million (€357,000/$406,700).

The pilot electronic auction for the sale of fish farming areas in the Primorskiy Krai was held on July 17.
