Ecuadorian shrimp exports to China climbed 66 percent month on month in September, raising hopes that business lost to fallout from the coronavirus pandemic might not take as long as previously thought to come back.

As Ecuador continues to claw back by far its largest market, shipments to China totaled 47.6 million pounds last month.

The development would appear to be welcome news after increasing numbers of Ecuadorian shrimp producers left ponds empty as export orders dried up and prices hit rock bottom.
