Aquaplan-niva, joined by project partner and salmon farmer Leroy Aurora, has been granted NOK 12 million (€1.2 million/$1.3 million) from the Research Council of Norway to build an interactive lice tool for the aquaculture industry.

The funds were granted through the Innovation Programme for Maritime Activities and Offshore Operations (MAROFF program) to the Meteorological Institute, the University of Oslo (UiO) and Florida Golf Coast University.

"We will simply try to get the best possible overview of the ocean currents near the coast, by looking at the geometry of the coast and the currents, ”said Ole Anders Nost, senior adviser at Aquaplan-niva.
