The Norwegian Institute of Marine Research reported less sea lice on examined wild salmon and trout in the Hardanger and Rogaland regions.

The figures are preliminary and will be updated based on additional investigations taken throughout the summer and fall.

New examination tools are in place this year to locate which rivers the fish migrated from.

The research center said less sea lice was found on trout from Sorlandet, but increased figures were seen in Flekkefjord compared with last year.

In Nordhordland, however, an average of 50 lice per trout was found, and 90 percent of the salmon in Sognefjord had lice.
