Regal Springs has become the first tilapia producer in Mexico to reach BAP four-star certification standard, the company said.

To receive BAP four-star certification aquaculture producers must demonstrate a commitment to responsibly producing fish at a very high standard.

The process involves inspections of hatcheries, feed used to produce fish, farming operations and fish processing standards.

"Our naturally "Better Tilapia" products are now certified to the two most demanding aquaculture certification standards in the world as our farms and operations are also certified to the Aquaculture Stewardship Council (ASC) standard, which Regal Springs was also the first to obtain in Mexico," Regal Springs Vice President of Sales for North America Guy Lott said.
