US seafood companies, including Red Lobster, Pacific Seafoods, High Liner, Cargill, Seattle Fish Company and Fortune International, have written to lawmakers in the US House of Representatives urging them to pass a long-stalled bill that would allow offshore aquaculture in US federal waters.

Seventy-six members of the seafood industry signed a letter Thursday asking lawmakers to pass the “Advancing the Quality and Understanding of American Aquaculture" (AQUAA) Act, which has been sitting idle in Congress since 2018, largely due to a lack of support.
