Brazil's aquaculture industry has all the right elements for rapid expansion over the next five years, and tilapia in particular may enjoy a resurgence, according to a new report from Rabobank.

Brazil's tilapia production could surpass 490,000 metric tons by 2020, making it the fourth largest supplier of the fish in the world, Rabobank analysts wrote.

Tilapia is already the largest sector in the Brazilian aquaculture industry, accounting for around 25 percent of the total production.

The industry has benefited from the tilapia's low food conversion ratio -- pegged at around 1.4
